Foraging for wild mushrooms could cost you your liver, or your life
Fall is commonly known as the harvest season, but one thing you shouldn't be harvesting is mushrooms. There are thousands of species of mushrooms, and while many are safe to eat they can be very similar in appearance to the many mushrooms that are deadly.
Eating poisonous mushrooms can result in liver failure or death.
The Ontario Poison Centre discourages anyone from foraging for or eating any mushrooms found in the wild (including parks and residential lawns). Mushrooms and other plant matter intended for human consumption should be purchased at a reliable retailer or grocer. Read more about the poison dangers of mushrooms.
